Hi LaRinda
It's us from Abbotsford, BC Canada. I hope all is well with you guys. We
are doing great. Christmas is always soooo busy especially with a brand
new baby. The website looks absolutely fabulous. I think you should put
a page in for comments from the owners of your past pups. We would say
what a talented and friendly chows you produce. Kovu is a chow that feels
the world is a wonderful and safe place to be and he loves kids. He can't
wait for them to get home from school so he can play and follow them
around the house. It doesn't matter which kids whether they are ours or
the neighbors. When people come to visit they always tell me that Kovu
makes them feel like royalty. My sister in law has a champion agility dog
and she is now trying to convince us that Kovu would be perfect for her to
train. (We aren't too keen on upsetting the balance in his life being
that we feel he is perfect.) The same sister in law just found out she is
having twins so I think agility won't be a topic for a while anyhow. Here
is a picture of him. He has grown so much. I just quickly took this one
tonight so you could see him. I will send you a better one another day.
Hi LaRinda I've been thinking about you this week. I have been meaning to take pictures of Kovu and sending them to you. He was a whopping 35 lbs on his 4 month birthday. He is amazing. His hair is getting longer and I have to brush him every day or his hair pills up like a teddy bear. We gave him some Advantage last week because he was very itchy but he's better now. Poor guy. We put a kiddy pool in the backyard but he doesn't thing its a great idea to go into it. He is happy for it be his drinking bowl. I'm glad your surgery went well. Recovery is always a tough time. I will take pictures of him tomorrow and send them to you. Do you have any pictures of Clyde? I would love to see what he looks like. How does he weigh? Fancy sure is cute. I will email you tomorrow. Dear LaRinda, CHRISTMAS 2002 We are going to take this opportunity to show you our new Christmas stationery. Is it really precious or what? Yesterday, I had to wait outside of a store for about 45 minutes for Rich while he shopped for some computer "stuff". So I put Kodi on his short leash and walked him around him the little bushes and grass area between the store and McDonalds. There wasn't one solitary person (young or old, rich or poor, smart or dumb, drunk or sober, short or tall) that didn't literally MELT right into their shoes when they looked up and saw Kodi sitting on my right foot like a centurion!!! About 80% of the people said "Oh, my Gawwwwd.....he looks just like a bear!" Then they'd ask his name and when I told them Kodiak II, they'd crack up laughing. One man went back to his car and returned with his West Highland Terrier just to see how they would be together "in case" he ever wanted to by a chow. Don't worry I immediately wrote down your name and phone number for him. I think he fell in love with chows only at that moment when he spotted my dog. And another young Asian fellow abut 20 came out of McDonalds and came over to tell me his parents had two chows and he was very familiar with the breed. After he played with Kodi for a minute or two, he just looked up at me and said "This is genuinely well-socialized chow. I was starting to feel like a mother with her brand new baby!!! The best part is yet to come. After I was there about another half hour and most of Fry's employees had walked in or out of the store on breaks, etc...., One of the young guys came out and said "Why don't you take him through the store?" I said What? Am I allowed to do that?" and he replied "people do it all the time....whether they're training a dog or not. You just have to keep him in the cart." So I proceeded to have him help me lift Kodi and we put him in the cart and he said facing me, so that he actually rode backwards. He never took his eyes off me and sat perfectly still for 12 minutes while I ran him up and down a few aisles. I was trying to find Rickie so I could surprise him.... but he'd already checked out on the other side of the store. Then I turned the cart around and was making for the front exit when I came to a middle-aged East Indian couple who'd seen me a few minutes before as I walked past then in the opposite direction. As they smiled and glanced into my cart, the man jumped a little and at the top of his lungs yells at his wife "he move, Lili, he move! "Did you see it?" She clasped her hand over her mouth and started to laugh so hard, I wondered what was going on. Then she told me they'd seen me on the other aisle and thought I'd bought on of those large bears for Christmas. They thought that Kodiak was a large, stuffed animal! Isn't that a great story? You know, this is why I'm sending you another $100, which I wish could be
$200 or $300 more! I don't want a bad karma to have to "work out" in
the future....you know what I mean? I'm getting something so precious
and so lovely and a real spiritual gift. and I feel if I don't try to pay
you something a little more fair, then I'll have a curse on me or
something weird like that. Seriously, if I had enough, I'd pay you a
lot more for Kodiak, LaRinda. I truly would. You deserve it for all
the love and care and training you gave him BEFORE he came to us. I
know my old Bunky Cat (the 19 year old one we lost August 4th) had no
physical connection with Kodi but I sometimes get a very very strong "sense"
that part of Bunky's spirit is in Kodiak. There are times I catch the
way his eyes follow me around the kitchen. And when Richie brings him in
from a walk, he isn't just content to sit down and play with Richie.. he
comes racing into whatever room I'm in and jumps up on the bed or chair or
my typewriter table and shakes his butt like a helicopter to tell me what
good time he had outdoors. And he doesn't just "bark" when he's happy,
Honestly, each bark is a different pitch and tone and almost sounds like he's saying to me, "I went outside, I did, I did I DID!! Please know LaRinda that we've had many happy occasions in our 40 years of marriage, but until now we have never felt totally fulfilled in life!!! THANK YOU!!! Love and best wishes for a nice and pleasant holiday....and a very SAFE New Year! Love Alice & Richie and the fur children. THIS WAS WRITTEN BY A DARLING COUPLE AT THE OREGON COAST AND HERE'S THE PICS OF THEIR CHRISTMAS STATIONERY. |
