Hi LaRinda,

Thought I'd let you know how well Nathan is doing in his puppy class.  He is very good at sit and down, and runs through the tunnel thingy without hesitation at all.  During puppy play time, he sometimes interacts with the other puppies, and at other times does his own thing - mainly checking out the floor to see if there are any loose treats laying around.  He is pretty good at heel and sit, just needs to walk a little more slowly so that he isn't tugging at the leash quite so much.

I had a lady from another training company come to my home last week.  She helped me introduce Nathan and Chance properly.  We took them both for a walk and they did well.  She also checked Nathan for aggression and he passed with flying colors, even when she checked him for food aggression.  She also told me I should use a pinch collar when training him, and assured me that it would not hurt him.  I haven't purchased one yet, thought I'd get your feedback on that one.

Anyhow, the little guy is doing really well at home, seldom has an accident in the house, sleeps through the night well, and is just the sweetest little boy.

Hope you are well, and that the development of your land is coming along well.

Hi LaRinda,

Took some more photos of my little character today.  I cannot believe how fast he is growing, and thought you'd like to see what he looks like.  The vet gave him his next set of shots today and said he looks great, and that he is a normal puppy (meaning he doesn't think he is going to be a problem chow).  Of course we knew that, but I guess he has had some concerns just because of the chow reputation.

Tonight Nathan played ball with me.  This is the first time he has actually gone after the ball and brought it back to me.  Until now he just played with the ball himself and if it happened to get near me I would bat it back.  He was so funny.  We played get the ball for a while and then he just broke out running.  My family room is an extension of the house, so we have a bookcase that was built around one of the original porch pillars.  That setup creates a circle arrangement, so Nathan runs the length of the family room, around the bookcase, then back again.  Over and over.  I wish I had that energy.  You would not believe what he does.  If I run around the bookcase, he chases me.  I can make it around the bookcase exactly twice before he stops and runs in the opposite direction to cut me off.  Smart puppy.

Anyhow, that is the latest from So CA where the weather was actually great today.

Joyce
